What to expect
0900hrs After breakfast depart for BATU CAVES – a limestone outcrop that has a series of caves and cave temples and is the most popular temple outside of India. It was used as shelter by the Aborigines and was founded by an American Naturalist Sir Willian Hornaday in 1878. Please limb 272 steps to the Temple of Hindu Deity, who is honored during the Hindu Festival of THAIPUSAM. Ladies must be properly attired to enter the temple. The 140 feet Statue of the Deity is mesmerizing.
Visit the ELEPHANT CONSERVATION CENTER for an introductory video on catch and trans location of orphaned and rogue elephants. After safety briefing you will get a chance to feed the gentle giants. Our elephants are smaller in size than the African elephants but they are also on the endangered list of animals including our tigers. The Elephant conservation center acts as a transit home for the orphans and rogue elephants.
A relaxed drive through the Countryside to BUKIT MELAWATI in Kuala Selangor. On arrival you will meet the SILVERED LEAF MONKEYS an adorable and friendly primate and their infants are orange in color. After 3 months the infants turn silver. They live in clusters of 6 – 10. They wait to be fed. Have your Cameras ready. Its a close brush with nature.. Then proceed for fresh SEAFOOD DINNER at a riverside restaurant . Catch a boat ride (silence to prevail) to watch FIREFLIES. They congregate on Mangrove trees to feed on nectar and are on a love making ritual. They flash synchronously through a biochemical reaction in their light organs on their bottoms – a natural wonder !
The BOAT RIDE is exhilarating as it ploughs through the nite. You will be dazzled with twinkling lights as in a Christmas tree.
Return to Kuala Lumpur arriving approx. 2200hrs. End of tour.
