Overview :
Port Weld (Kuala Sepetang) had the first railroad track constructed by the British to Taiping. Its a charming fishing village with many sea food restaurants, cockle harvesting and fishing. The Matang Forest Reserve boasts of a good model of sustainable mangrove forestry and conservation. Charcoal production is another of the main attractions, not forgetting the fireflies colony with their very own rituals. The eco track boasts of 41 mangrove species, 19 mammals, 155 bird species, 112 fish species, 50 crab species, 3 species of firefly, 20 prawn species and etc. You got to be lucky to sight dolphins or dugongs.

DAY 01  ( L D H ) KUALA LUMPUR – PORT WELD (KUALA SEPETANG) ( Drive time approx.  4 hours)

0700hrs After breakfast depart for the Coastal fishing village of Port Weld, enroute  bonus stop at the famous 

BATU CAVES – climb 272 steps into the temple of Hindu Deity who is honored during Thaipusam in January or February every year. (Ladies to be properly attired to enter the temple).

1300hrs On arrival at Port Weld SEAFOOD LUNCH at a river cafe followed by :

RIVER CRUISE – an interesting cruise where one sees wooden houses on stilts, lining both of the river banks and a bustling waterway of trawlers transporting fishes cockles and mangrove logs. 

MANGROVE FOREST high above the canopy of mangrove trees and on the coastal bunds egrets, herons, kingfisher, eagles are aplenty. The mangrove supports abundant wildlife like water birds, monkeys, monitor lizards, snakes and also the breeding grounds for crabs, shrimps, lobsters, prawns fishes. The Mangroves are a natural barrier to tsunami. 

EAGLE FEEDING Brahminy kites and white bellied sea eagles can be seen scavenging or soaring down for floating fishes and food thrown into the river by boatmen.

1600hrs Return to Jetty for check in to hotel. Free at leisure.

1900hrs  After dinner  Catch a boat to see synchronized blinking lights of FIREFLIES  (PTEROPTYX TENER) on berembang trees (SONNERATIA CASEOLARIS). The dazzling display, a love making ritual, resembles a Christmas tree. Silence to prevail.

2200hrs  Good nite !

DAY 02 PORT WELD – KUALA LUMPUR  (B L ) (Drive time approx 4 hours)

1000hrs After breakfast, visit CHARCOAL FACTORY for a guided tour. Domed kilns are used to bake the logs after the barks have been removed. The barges come in with the logs when the tide is high right up to the doorstep of the factory. Special baked sweet potatoes for tasting.

Lunch enroute and visit the unique UBUDIAH MOSQUE and the SULTAN’S OLD PALACE in Kuala Kangsar for a photo shoot. Return transfer to Kuala Lumpur arriving approx.  1800hrs. End of tour.
